TRAVELING TEAM INFORMATION
The GRAFTON HIGH SCHOOL Girls Basketball Program is providing the opportunity for girls to participate on a competitive traveling team. The traveling teams are directly affiliated with the Grafton High School Girls BLACK HAWK Basketball Program and are coordinated through the Grafton GIRLS JUNIOR BLACK HAWK Basketball Program.
Players will be introduced to competitive basketball through organized weekend tournaments throughout Wisconsin.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
All girls in grades 3-8 who are enrolled in a Grafton school or who reside within the Grafton School District are welcome to try out for a traveling team. 2nd graders are allowed to tryout but will only be asked to play if necessary to fill a third grade team. Once they are in 3rd grade they will be asked to stay in their grade and no longer play up.
HOW DO YOU MAKE A TEAM?
Girls who want to participate on a GRAFTON GIRLS JUNIOR BLACK HAWK Traveling Team must try out in the fall each year.
Players will be evaluated each season. It is important to know that just because a player makes a team one season, doesn't mean they will make the team the following season.

WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT?
Teams participate in several tournaments.
Anticipate playing in 5 to 12 tournaments throughout the designated Traveling Team season. The number of tournaments will be primarily based on the grade level of the team. Generally, the younger teams will participate in fewer tournaments.
Teams will typically practice twice per week, including weekends during the season.
A season will typically run from end of October through March.
All girls chosen to play on a traveling team are expected to attend Grafton Girls Junior Black Hawk practices and tournaments.
WHAT IS THE COST TO PARTICIPATE?
It is our goal to keep the costs to participate as low as possible to all families and participants involved. The cost to participate is approximately $250 - $325. Club fees are $100, uniform costs are around $75, and tournament fees (which are divided equally by the number of players on the team).
WHO IS THE COACH?
Teams will typically be coached by parents of players on the team.
We encourage interested individuals to register online if interested in coaching a traveling team.
Coaching assignments will not be made until after the teams have been selected.
Coaches will be selected by the basketball advisory team.
To be eligible to coach on a traveling team, you must sign up to be a volunteer coach at the Fall Clinic.
